Spring Common AcademySpecialism: SENPosition: Communication & Interaction ManagerKS2

I trained at the Institute of Education, University of London and taught in mainstream primary schools, from Nursery up to Year 6. I became increasingly focussed on special needs teaching, first as a learning support teacher and then as Inclusion Manager of a large primary school.

In 2008 I relocated to Cambridgeshire, and begun teaching at Spring Common, where I mainly teach KS2 aged pupils. I am the school’s Communication & Interaction manager, with responsibility for enabling a total communicating environment to ensure that the school is able to meet the speech, language and communication needs of all pupils, including ensuring that each pupil has access to the appropriate support for their communication and that staff are trained to facilitate positive communicative outcomes.

I have particular interests and experience in working in the areas of communication, autism and behaviour management.
